USSutcliffe Electronics have been in business in Ashford Kent for over 30 years. We are a small electronics manufacturer which specialises in Wired Beam type infrared Driveway Alarms. Our Driveway Alarm is designed for self fit by the customer, and does not require an electrician. Most of our products are biased towards the farming community, but just because you do not own a farm or smallholding, is not a reason for not wanting to know whether someone is coming up your drive.Sutcliffe Electronics15 West StreetHothfieldAshfordKent TN26 1ETwww.drivewayalarm.co.uk sales@drivewayalarm .co.uk
Driveway alarms from Sutcliffe Electronics
We manufacture and sell active beam type security alarms
Your security is increased by fitting hidden beam type alarms across your entrances
An active infra red wired beam device to give warning of a visitor on your property, and which can also be used to trigger a warning siren, page you with a portable radio, of switch on flood lights. The Infra red beam consists of a sender and a receiver, which are mounted on either side of the drive. Both are connected to the Control box, which provides 12V power for the system, and is plugged into the 240V mains in the house. The Control box has integral 13A plug pins, and contains adjustable timing for an internal buzzer, a Delay timer, and on On timer and transistor switch to drive a siren. It can support 3 separate beams, and two extra buzzers. Each beam comes with 100m of cable, (Recommended Maximum Cable 500m) and 2 aluminium mounting brackets. There are 3 knobs, one to adjust the ON time of the buzzer (1--15seconds) and the other two to adjust the DELAY and ON time of a siren. By this means any external alarm is delayed, to prevent the beam position from being marked by a prospective intruder. Similarly the boxes are best mounted IN rather than ON posts in order to hide their position. Hollow posts can be made by nailing 4 boards together. The optimum height for mounting the beam is 0.9m (1 yard), this allows small animals to pass below, but is below the window in a car door. There is a delay in the beam to allow a bird to pass through without causing false triggering. This is set to roughly 1/10 of a second, but is adjustable if it proves too short or too long.No special tools are required to set up the beam, there is a red light on the receiver which helps to centre it. It can be fitted by a competent handy person with the instructions supplied.Sitcliffe Electronics do not produce a reflector model with the sender and receiver on one side of the drive, and a target on the other, since they are much more prone to false alarms and can be easily bypassed.
OPTIONS AVAILABLE1)15m, 30m, or 40m Continuous beam units (Maximum distance between sender & receiver)2)Separate power supply module for sender, for where it is more convienient to run the sender from another place.3)Extra Function Timer Modules and siren immunity function. (see separate sheet)4)Paging function fot use with “Cobra” Walkie talkie radios, run in conjunction with the internal buzzer.5)Special 12V systems, for where mains is not available, or it is a requirement that the systen runs off an alarm panel. 6)Extra cable in 100m rolls.7)Extra buzzers.8)Siren to provide external warning.SUMMARY1)Infra red active beam ( not passive IR ). Consisting of separate receivers and sender in pairs.2)Weatherproof, designed for external use.3)Transistor switch for operating approved external siren. Please note the maximum ON time is quite short, it is not designed for switching lights.4)Integral warning buzzer in control box, with knob to adjust duration. Plus provision to power extra buzzers.5)Runs 24 hours a day.6)Heating components to reduce condensation.7)Units run at a nominal 12V. ( No danger if cable damaged )8)3 complete beams or 6 receivers only can be fitted to 1 control box.9)500M of cable can be used with each beam. ( maximum loop resistance 80 ohms )10)Both ends of the beam need power, but do not necessarily need to be wired together. Accessory mains power supplies for the sender only are available.11)Integral delay timer for external alarms. The delay prevents the beam position being noted. For instance a 30 second delay followed by a 10 second blast on a siren.12)Buzzer and Siren reset automatically.13)Aluminium mounting brackets.14)Can be used in conjunction with a larger system.15)Easy to fit by the competent DIY person.16)A preventative deterrent as well as an automatic door bell for the drive.DIMENSIONSSender and Receiver boxes:-7.5cm X 10.5cm X 5cm with a 5cm lense hood ( slightly smaller than ½ a brick )Control box:-14cm X 9cm X 4cm Adapter style with 13A plug pins on the back. ( about the size of a double socket )Beam:-12V nominal
Paging Adaptor for DIA intruder alarm systemThe Control box on this setup has been fitted with a special adaption, so that it can be used with a Cobra MT PMR 446 Licence free Walkie Talkie as a pager base station. The paging function is triggered by the buzzer circuitPart of the adaption is designed to give a maintenance charge to the internal battery set in the radio. Thus it can be left connected permanently.A long plugged connector lead is provided, and connects between the control box and one of the radios supplied. This is now the base station. The radios are not modified. Please note the DIA control box and radio are not weatherproof, and would require a a weatherproof container if not mounted indoors. The Infra red beam boxes are designed to be mounted outside, and are weatherproof as long as they are mounted as per instructions sent out with the product.A Cobra MT radio must be used as the base station, but the receiving unit can be any PMR 446 radio. They are designed to work with each other regardless of the make.
Entrance/Exit siren isolation timer

This device was developed to meet requests fo extra functions on the Sutcliffe ‘DRIVEWAY INTRUDER ALARM’ and can be used amongst other ways:-To add a lighting function to the standard system, or any other 12V alarm panel. ( A Photocell switch or time clock would also be required )
The module consists of a relay and two timer circuits. The first of which gives an adjustable DELAY, and the second an adjustable ON period. The timers are adjustable with small preset controls, approximately:-1 sec to 2 mins or 2 mins to 4 mins DELAY (Link/No link)1 sec to 5 mins or 5 mins to 10 mins ON (Link/No link) Power input:-240V AcRelay contacts:-240V Ac 10A Resistive, Normally open, Fused to 10A, Isolated from mains input.Trigger input:-Opto Isolated 12V DcHousing:-Black plastic (ABS) box 105 X 73 X 50mm
A device to give warning that your electric stock fence is not functioning correctly. Once the voltage in an electric fence has dropped to about 3000V or below, it is rapidly reaching the point when it is no longer effectivr. The FENCESENSE gives a loud beep when this point is reached, allowing the fault to be rectified before the animals get out (or the Fox to get in).Just hang the FENCESENSE on the electric fence wire, clip the orange lead to the fence, and the green lead to a good earth, switch on and leave. The device is powered from three AA cells which should give a monitoring life of upto a year. (life depends on the quality of the batteries used) If the batteries become low, the red indicator light goes out, and when flat, the beep is activated continuously, this being the fail safe mode.
Telescopic Hitch Post
It is well known that even if wheel clamps and a hitch lock have been fitted, trailers still disappear. One way to protect your valuable asset is to lock it to the ground. Our Telescopic Hitch Post, consists of an outer steel tube, 800mm in length, and an inner telescopic tube of 5mm wall thickness which is designed such that it cannot be removed. This is topped with a 50mm tow ball. The outer tube is sunk into the ground flush, and concreted to make it permanent. One can not do anything easy about the portable angle grinder, but anything which makes it more difficult to take away your trailer will improve your security. The Telescopic Hitch Post takes time and tools to overcome. Your expensive trailer cannot be towed away by just winding a chain round the locked hitch and dragging the wheel clamps until they fall off. We would still recommend that other security is fitted to your site, to give advanced warning that you have an unwanted visitor.
Sutcliffe Electronics first produced Gasgun Conversion Kits in 1985. They are still available with the current MKIV electronics modules. The MKIV electronics give a switched option of one, two or 4 bangs, variable interval between bangs on a knob, an adjustable Morning delay timer, and a randomise function, which adjusts the current setting by plus or minus 50%The kit provides an economic way of obtaining a new reliable Gasgun with a year’s guarantee, without the expence of buying a new barrel. It is easy to install using the normal tools found in a farm workshop on almost any propane gasgun. The conversion taking about an hour. The kit consists of a weatherproof housing, electronics module, long reach spark plug, plug mounting plate, all necessary leads and full instructions. It is assumed that the high pressure regulator, gas pipe and fittings from the old gun are still serviceable. If spares are required we can supply for the Sutcliffe Kitgun and for the Conversion Kit.Kitgun Bird Scarer
